What is COPA?

August 2011- We are kicking off our second year of promoting the Co-op Owners for Political Action® (COPA) program. Last year, we introduced the program to Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative members at our annual meeting. As a result, 210 HWEC members registered for the COPA program.

COPA is a political action committee that supports both state and federal lawmakers who will speak for and protect the interest of cooperatives and their member-owners. Now more than ever, cooperative members are recognizing the importance of participating in the political process of communicating to congressional representatives concerns with maintaining affordable electric to rural communities.

Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative COPA members recently had the opportunity to speak to both state and federal representatives. HWEC hosted a COPA breakfast at our office in Millersburg. where US Congressman Bob Gibbs and State Representative Dave Hall both spoke and took time out to answer HWEC members’ questions.

Below is an enrollment form. If you are interested in joining COPA along with, currently, the other 223 Holmes-Wayne Electric members, please feel free to complete the enrollment form and return with your bill payment or return fax at 330-674-1869.
